Currently, on the 0.15 Armored Warfare Public Test Server, the premium tier VII MBT, Mekava IIb is available for use. I was lucky enough a snag a screenshot of it's specs and put them up beside my latest purchase, the Challenger 1 WOLF edition.
The very first thing that leaped out at me was how thick the frontal hull armor was, very impressive. After that, nothing much else got me excited about this vehicle. The Alpha and Sustained Damage is below the Challenger, as well as the other Armor values. Granted, this is considered to be a work in progress and things could drastically change before it is officially released, but still....
Mobility wise, the Merkava is surprisingly disappointing, with the Challenger being, of all things, quicker off the line and having a noticeable higher top speed. The Utility values are pretty close to each other and the Targeting numbers are leaning more in the Challenger's favor.
Despite all of this, numbers don't tell the whole story, it's the player using it that brings the final, dynamic portion of the formula, either it will work or be a big overall disappointment.
For me, the Challenger 1 WOLF was the safer buy, for my playstyle.
