Facebook pushback

It would seem the anti-Facebook portion within the Armored Warfare community are letting their thoughts and feelings known on the Holidays are Coming thread on the forums.

From my perspective, they have made their choice not to use this social media outlet and be a part of any contests and giveaways that were announced at the beginning of the very same thread. For some reason, I find some of the comments and rationalization of their stubborn choice a bit amusing, from "I simply refuse to use this bullshit" to "No one in the professional world is stupid enough to limit stuff to facebook" and "Security conscious people don't touch that POS".

Too bad for them, I suppose.

I have used Facebook for well over six years now and I haven't suffered from any negative effects, as of yet. I have connected with long, lost friends and family and been informed of other, real life events that I would have otherwise missed. Don't get me wrong, I don't live there, just visit once or twice a day, time permitting of course. Nor do I post trivial, everyday stuff like "going shopping, back in 15 mins" then follow it up with "back from shopping, here's what I bought...." and proceed to bore people with useless details about a mundane experience (however, I guess that is partly why I started a few blogs?).

However, I do follow some of my favorite games on Facebook, both past and present, as an alternate way to keep up with and changes and announcements that might not make it on the main portal changes. I also plan on taking part in the offered contests and giveaway with this event, based on the criteria, requirements and time I have available.

For those who refuse to use Facebook during this time, thank you, the odds of winning and collecting prizes just increased for the rest of us.
