Fighting with the Christmas Spirit, part 2

Today was the second round of Christmas giveaways, this time from War Thunder Ground Forces.

Except, this isn't a giveaway, I would have to earn it http://warthunder.com/en/news/3477-special-collect-a-famous-a13-mk-i-3rd-rtr-for-christmas-en The map was Tunisia with a three point capture. I won't bog things down with all of the minute details, needless to say, my team pulled it off, despite my paltry contributions....

....with a fifteen person team, my productivity came in at the bottom half.

However, I beat the minimum 80% activity level required to secure the prize and my team were the victors. So, was the prize worth it in the long run?

Well, other than the decals, reward and research modifiers....

....it is a exact twin of the reserve rank tank of the same name. Still a giveaway and/or earned premium can still have value, within the limitations of the game mechanics.

For Armored Warfare, I made a seasonal purchase https://aw.my.com/us/news/general/introducing-ice-edition-vehicles  and picked up a high tiered premium Main Battle Tank to add to the slowly growing garage collection. Keeping in theme with my Battle of the Bulge event, the tier VI Leopard 2AV ICE was the most appropriate decision among the available choices.

Doesn't look too bad, but the bear's head looks like it could use some more detailing. After admiring my purchase for a few moments, I queued up for a medium level PvE mission....

....where me and my team were annihilated. It was also a painful lesson that I couldn't use the Leopard 2AV like my other tier VI premium, MBT-70 Merc. I learned, very quickly afterwards, the Leo doesn't have the same frontal armor qualities as the MBT-70. That and a few other factors I looked into, changed up my gameplay for the next round....

Perhaps, I played it a little too conservatively, but my team won and I lived.

With almost the last of my ingame Gold, I picked up the tier VI Chinese (actually, Taiwanese) Light Tank, Type 64, in World of Tanks. Have a few reasons for doing this. One, I don't have any premium assets at tier VI. Two, having a higher tiered Light Tank just might come in handy....

....for attempting ingame missions, specials and/or events. Three, I don't have any overwhelming desire to grind out the Chinese tree, but I figured I need at least one vehicle from that nation, so I chose this. And finally, four, sometimes it's just nice to have something laying around I can hop in and zip around a battlefield like I just stole a car and driving for my life.

Tis the season to collect a few, buy a few more.
